Snowdonia Dusk

Llynnau Mymbyr, Capel Curig

The sun dipped behind the Snowdon horseshoe silhouette, leaving a golden trace across the water. The long exposure blurred the lake into something glassy and calm, while the foreground rocks held firm — weathered, rooted, unchanging.

This view has been photographed and painted many times–famously by J.W.M. Turner–but that evening it felt like something new. Maybe it was the quiet. Maybe it was just the fact I stayed still long enough to notice how slowly everything moved.

Sometimes the story isn’t in the mountains. It’s in the hush between the light and the water.
