The Eryri Chronicles

“Stories that might have been. Lives that almost certainly were.”

Although I’m putting the finishing touches to my first novel — Unseen Souls — I’ve also been thinking about what comes next.

Since 2019, I’ve lived in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. I’ve taken thousands of photographs–like the one above– walked old quarry paths, lingered by chapels, and followed sheep tracks into mist. Now I want to turn my attention to a different kind of record — a new writing series:

The Chronicles of Eryri

Short stories and reflections from the heart of Snowdonia.

These won’t be grand tales of conquest or royal decree. They won’t be about the people who always appear in the history books. These will be quiet stories — drawn from the working lives, chapel pews, lost villages, and slate-scarred ridges of this place.

Each piece will begin with a short, fictionalised story rooted in real history, followed by a brief reflection on the people, landscape, or moment that inspired it.

This is not fantasy. This is fiction built on fact.

Stories that might have been.

Lives that almost certainly were.

I’ll begin publishing these chronicles every few weeks, starting with The Slate Men. Over time, I hope they’ll form a kind of patchwork — a literary field journal of labour, silence, myth, memory, and resilience.

If you’d like to follow along, keep an eye on the blog — or join the mailing list to receive updates as each new piece is released.
